This is Winnie and Pepito’s 3rd real bonding session, this will be there 2nd bonding session on top of the washer. The first time I did this i was not able to take my hand off winnie’s head without her turning her head to bite him lol. Bust last night i was able to take my hand of of her for more then 15 seconds and her not do anything Pepito was also grooming her and she was allowing him to do that. Good progress?

yes! great progress! grooming is a good sign. When I first started bonding Daisy and MrBun she constantly wanted to be groomed, and he happily obliged. Now they share the grooming responsibility. It sounds like Winnie is tolerating Pepito which is great. Tolerating usually leads into loving. especially since she was nipping at him at first but has now decided she doesn’t need to.

Wooo! Such great news!! It is so nice to hear that. It can be stressful. Thanks for such a quick reply. How do I work on getting Winnie used to pepito in her room? pepito is caged in her room and Winnie is free roam in her room. She now shows no aggression when im in his cage cleaning it and stuff. When I feel they are well bonded in a nuetral territory, do i slowly move to her territory? how do i teach her that it is both her and his territory. I do let him play about in the room when shes is elsewhere so his smell gets everywhere. But Winnie is really territorial over her castle and her land lol. She will literally sit on top of her castle and watch over the room, its really funny actually.

I just pictured her with a crown on watching over her kingdom!! As far as getting him into her space- you will need to de-Winnie as much as you can. Of course you won’t be able to fully neutralize it but getting her scent off somethings will help. Use a water and vinegar spray on anything you can. While they are still separated you can take a blanket and put It in his cage for a day or two then put it in her’s so she can get used to his scent being in her area. Since she is free roam and doesn’t really have a “cage” I would suggest putting the blanket somewhere that she is especially fond of. Kind of like if there is one thing you expect to cause a problem when she needs to share it that is where you should put the blanket. that way she can get used to his scent being on it.

Other than that you’ve got the right idea. Once you feel confident leaving them along in a neutral territory then you can move SLOWLY into her room. Start with baby steps. When we introduced daisy to the condo we let her run around by herself in it. Bun kept wanting to go in after her kind of like saying “hey! be careful! don’t do that! that’s mine!” Once she came out we would let him go in to inspect and make sure she hadn’t messed anything up. You will need to let her call the shots. short sessions just like you’re doing now and take him out if she shows aggression. Another good tip someone told me is to take him out regardless of her behavior. For example set 15 minutes and even if at the end of the 15 she seems fine, remove pepito. This will keep her from getting to that point of annoyance and aggression. they called it “ending on a happy note” So essentially she wont ever hit that limit and get upset.

Good luck! you’re doing everything right so far!

                Such cuties!

Definitely progress. As for the room, maybe a few more bonding sessions, then work on that? Wipe down anything possible in the room so it’s smells neutral, and replace fleece if any are there.

                  Great stuff.

If you ever need to put them together somewhere, put him there first so that she’s not already there, ready to defend her territory, so that she joins him, not the other way around.

Mr bun, thats really good advice with putting a pepito smelling blanket somewhere Winnie is fond of. I do let Winnie play about in his cage every night while pepito plays around. I switch there liter boxes around as well! Vienna!! that is perfect idea, putting pepito first and thhhheeeen Winnie, that should help with Winnies territorial behavior! Bunny friends, I am definitely going to have a lot more bonding sessions before slowing introducing pepito into Winnies room with her around. Thats gonna be the tricky part! Thank-you LPT They are cute Bunny Spots Everywhere!!!

Slowly does it Crashley – slowly does it.

Make sure they are soooo cool & relaxed in each other’s company before taking the next step. And if the next step takes a turn for the worse, go back to the previous step so they are in their comfort zone.
