So I have 2 bunnies right now, Jax, who I’ve had for about 5 months now and Charlotte, who we call Charlie, that we just got 2 weeks ago. Jax completely adored and loved me for the first four months I’ve had him and I decided that I should get another bunny to bond him with after he had seemed to be bored and getting in to trouble while I was at work. Jax and Charlie bonded extremely quickly which was a relief as I had been researching it before hand and seeing that it could take a long time. Ever since Jax and Charlie have shared their room together, Jax has become less social to humans and completely ignores me now unless I have a treat for him. Charlie is a baby and seems to be ok with humans and petting but Jax will often see someone petting her and go over and force his head under her. Is this something I should be worried about? Is this something you guys will think will last? Is it bc of Charlie or bc he was neutered? I’ve had a rabbit before Charlie and Jax but he was 9 years old and not neutered and had most likely not seen another rabbit since he was a baby so I have no experience when it comes to this new situation with Jax.
If someone can help explain why he’s acting like this and how I can fix it/ get in his good side again, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Is Jax neutered? Or is Charlie neutered? Hormones can change their personality. Also, maybe Jax is jealous, or maybe they don’t get along as well as you thought. Or maybe Jax is trying to show dominance over Charlie in his own strange way.

Jax is maturing and he might not be as affectionate now as he was when he was a baby. And now, he has a rabbit companion, so he will likely want to spend more time with her, than with humans. He is soliciting grooming and affection from Charlie when he sticks his head under hers.

You were able to bond Jax and Charlie because Charlie is a baby. When she reaches puberty, around 4 months or so, and her hormones come flooding in, you will likely have to separate them. Due to puberty, she could become aggressive or territorial, or behave at times like she is suffering from PMS. You will need to have her spayed, which is usually done at 6 months, then rebond her to Jax. When rabbits have hormone issues or aggression issues, they can fight, and they can severely injure each other if they do fight.

When I bonded Guinivere nad Lancelot, they both started to ignore me. Guin ignored me the most. It took a few months, and once her and Lancelot’s relationship was really cemented, they both started being affecitonate with me again. Guin now bombards me in the mornign for petting, and Lancelot begs for treats again. Give tisome time. Let them enjoy their new relationship, keep on loving and treating them, and they will come around.

Sadly, there comes a time in every bunny owner’s life when we realize our bunny doesn’t love us anymore.

I agree. It could be hormonal (if he isn’t neutered). How old is Jax? Or it could be there is another bunny. Or it could be a little of both. I wouldn’t take it personally.
