Ok so the last 2 days me and my bf worked we came home and Ash freaked out! He ran around his cage at light speed and was jumping on the sides of the cage all in fear! We are not doing anything different when we come home and his cage is closest to the door to the room so he can see us when we walk in. I’m not sure what is scaring him but does anyone else have this happen? The other 7 don’t do it? Also what’s the best way to calm him down? Thanks!

Did you speak when you walked in? Buns don’t see well in certain light conditions and hearing your voices might help.
Ash might have been freaked out already by an earlier unfamiliar sound or he might have smelled something unfamiliar on you and that frightened him. If he doesn’t already, having a good hidey should help calm him.

If he keeps doing it I may have to get him a hiding place. My bf would go up from work like he does everyday and say hi bunnies and that’s when ash goes nuts. I think it might be something on our work clothes cause when we change he calms down. Thank you

Buns should always have a hidey. Even if not used much, it makes them feel secure. A clean cardboard box with holes cut out on two sides does the trick just fine.

Agree with Q8Bun. It’s very important for bunnies to have a special hidey place they can feel safe. My buns have their cardboard boxes updside down with doors and windows.

I had one and a dig box, but they were cardboard and he ate them in half when I was at work and I haven’t been able to find a decent plastic or wood on that he can’t chew (one that he can fit in, hes part Flemish giant). He doesn’t like going in to boxes because he likes seeing what’s going on so I haven’t worried too much about it until now.

For a plastic one, you can use a plastic storage tub turned upside down. Some of the stacking tubs already have a lower part on one side, but with other storage tubs you could cut an opening with a heated craft knife or a dremel or something. Just make sure to file off the edges afterwards so there’s no sharp bits.
