My bunny has a swollen red eye and its moist, he can open it but he’s mostly laying down with it closed. Is there anything I can do and should be worried? I’ve notice this happen before but it went away in its own after a day

I can’t really tell the complexity of the issue from your picture. Was it possibly from an injury? My bunny just recently went through an eye injury where I came home and her eye was swollen shut. I outlined her healing process in this post: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/148583/Default.aspx She absolutely needed medication for it, but what she went through might help with any worries you may have if it’s similar.

It’s always a good idea to take an eye injury to the vet. As my vet was telling me through Meki’s healing, “You only have two eyes”. If a growing tooth gets out of control, they could pull it. A bunny could get around on three legs, maybe even two with assistance. Ears can be ripped and still functional. But eyes are so delicate and important, you really don’t want to mess around and see if it’ll go away on it’s own.

I agree. There’s no way to know what’s wrong without a vet taking a look. They can use dye to see if there is any damage to the cornea. If your bun has an eye injury, he will need medication to treat it.
