My elderly bunny is having difficulty getting in and out of his litter pan i have tried changing it to something that is easier but he has a complet temper tantrum and has even to refused to relieve himself ? i have tried many different ideas for a litter pan. I have tried using putiing a little old litter into the new pan. I dont know what else to do and suggestions please

If possible, cut a square out of one of the sides of the one he is use to. He might just be having jumping problems. If you don’t want to cut it, you could put a small pile of fleece outside the box to act as a stool.

Is the new pan smaller than the old pan? Rabbits tend to dislike smaller pans. I once gave my Bam a new smaller pan instead of an old one that had a broken lid, and he was NOT pleased.

Yes, you could create a sort of ramp or half step up near his original pan perhaps.

Good point on the size too, Bam.

This may seem left of field, but try a new pan that is same colour as old one also?? I have heard of rabbits showing a preference for certain colours, even though they are supposedly don’t see colours the way we do.
