I work for a park and, just like last year, there is a domestic rabbit that has been abandoned. While I can’t keep him as he is a big boy nearly three times the size of my lil holland lop, it breaks my heart to think about a domestic rabbit dumped outside and am going to take him to the animal shelter down the street. It was a mess last year, a whole group of us basically wore the thing out and caught it pretty aggressively.

Going to try and use a net this time. It’s hiding out near the property boundary beside an asphalt company and we don’t want to spook it out of the park into that nasty place.

All tips welcome. Already bated the site with carrots. Fingers crossed and “Here we go!”

I do not have experience with this, but LittlePuffyTail posted an article earlier this summer that had some great tips.

Here is the link– good luck!

My only experience with catching a stray rabbit was with a tiny terrified baby rabbit and I ended up throwing a big blanket over him. Very traumatic, obviously, but better than being in the dangerous outdoors.

I was able to catch him! I think I lucked out with a friendly bun! I had a cat carrier in my car and baited it with some carrots at work. When he was halfway inside the cage eating, I scooted his lil butt inside and slammed the door shut!

The humane society thought he was a “American”? Never heard of that breed haha but I’m not really familiar with a lot of breeds They had a “name this animal” contest on facebook and he’s going up for adoption

Glad he’s safe now. I can’t believe the kind of people who will dump bunnies (and other animals) outdoors. Breaks my heart.

I’m so glad that you caught him, and that it was an easy rescue. I’ve been involved in rescues in the past and many times they are filled with frustration and don’t have quick resolutions. I hope that he finds a wonderful home.

                      That’s fantastic!

                      Did they name him yet?

Glad you were able to catch him! My family’s caught three rabbits let loose, and I know how difficult it can be. Mordecai was easy, he just let my dad pick him up. The lionhead sisters were a different story. We caught Ragnar fairly easy since we got her cornered but it took several days and four people to catch her sister.

Oh, you’re not alone! I spent the better part of 2 days (and into the evening with a flashlight!) last week looking for an injured pregnant cat. And I eventually found her. Will make a post about my kitty adventures in the Lounge soon.
