The first cut!

It’s almost 11 at night, but I’m making some time to stop by. I’ve had Buddha for a month as of yesterday. I had written about him in a different topic before. He was passed through the system a lot, due to his lack of friendliness. He also hated being touched. I was also convinced that none of his fosters ever cut his nails. I took a chance on him (I’m a sucker for loners), and he’s been such a ball of joy that has warmed up so much!

His hair covers his claws, but he let me take a look at them…they were out of control. I sighed and could only assume that had to be a little uncomfortable. I got the clippers, my flashlight, and a timothy hay cube (he has a HUGE love for these things). He accepted me touching his feet while he ate, though I wasn’t trying to push my luck too hard. I was actually able to get most of his nails trimmed while he was eating. I have two left on his front feet that I’m leaving for another day. He started to seem a little annoyed, so I stopped. Seriously though…I felt victorious. I probably could go shorter, but I was nervous. I was waiting for him to spaz out at any moment. I was quick to text my SO to let him know the accomplishments. That and the fact that Buddha spent a bit of time licking me and nudging me, which is also a new addition to his behavior. I felt like he was letting me pet him more than ever tonight, including all the brushing I got done. My SO texts me back saying, “See…he loves you more than me.” Hah. My little baby is growing up so fast! 

I guess this could go with care and bonding. It was a good night!

He also ate the number 1 off my remote, but hey….
