I am so stressed out! I have two rabbits, not bonded, and I can’t get them to play nice.
On top of that, even in their separate enclosures, they are going to the bathroom EVERYWHERE and destroying everything.
My 5 y/o lionhead has started chewing the plastic “bars” of her heavy duty dog pen, flipping her litter, peeing and pooping everywhere. My 2 y/o lop is peeing and pooping everywhere, growling whenever I try to pet her, and flipping everything she possibly can.
Nothing I do is working. I have tried a billion different setups in different areas of the house, I’ve tried different food, schedules, bonding methods, different litter techniques- NOTHING IS WORKING.
I have spent so much time and money and energy trying to make these two happy but nothing is working and I feel like a terrible owner.
They seem like they WANT to like each other, but just when I think things might be alright, they start fighting again worse than before.

I feel like these behaviours are an indication of something being wrong, but I don’t know what unless they absolutely hate each other. I’d really be heartbroken to have to rehome one of them but if its making them both miserable it would be selfish to keep trying to make this work.

Please help! What am I supposed to do?!

I just had a quick look over your older bonding thread. Is Suki now spayed?

The set ups are where they are near each other?

I wouldn’t say anything is particularly wrong, female rabbits are particularly territorial. I can understand how frustrating this is though.
Do you have anywhere local that offers bonding services? Sometimes you need to have them in a completely new environment. Also, if a bond with the owner is particularly strong, this can hinder bonding also. IMO.

thanks for your reply! yes, both are spayed.
and yes, the setups are when they are near each other. currently they are in opposite corners of a large rec room because when i had them closer together (with space between them, they would push at the walls until they could almost reach each other) they would often try to fight. i’ve also tried having them with a couch between them so they couldnt see each other. the current setup seems fine unless their mere presence is stressing them out or making them miserable.

Peach and i are pretty close (she’s definitely more comfortable with me than Suki
is given all the years i’ve had Peach) but i dont think we are close enough to ruin a bond. it seems like they want to be friends but they are both awkward and cant do it without starting a fight or something haha
