Hey. I’ve been reading these forums for years and and been thinking about getting a bunny again after having to give mine away many years ago. Now that I’m older and no longer living at home I decided I was going to start fostering a bunny and sent in an application. It’s been a week and I’m still waiting on a reply. Well today me and my husband decided to just go by the humane society just to look around and get out if the house…. Well it ended with us bringing home a puppy. My question is would it be okay to still foster a bunny with a puppy in our apartment. She is 2 months old and 13 pounds. She’s a hound mix and quite active. They don’t expect her to get to terribly big. Would it be best to bring a bunny in to the home when she is still a puppy so she grows up around bunnies? Of course they would never be left alone but ideally I’d like if they were able to out at the same time since our apartment isn’t the biggest so there isn’t much run to give them alot of individual space to run.

If you are fostering bunnies I’d be careful that the buns don’t get too used to being round dogs, because if they have to go back home and get into next door’s garden the bunny might think the dog is safe and the dog might not be, what if your dog wants to play rough and grabs the bunny by his neck and throws him, it can happen in a second, I’m not saying it would, we had a dog when I was little who would be so gentle near other animals and very careful near rabbits and hamsters, your puppy will grow up soon and all animals like dogs can kill other animals, I’m not saying your new puppy would, but to dogs they are food.

Hi, I’m only speaking from experience, but my oldest dog (who’s a 10yr old female PitBull) gets along great with my baby dwarf bunny, and vice versa. But I strongly believe it’s because we’ve always had my dog around smaller animals, especially fragile kittens and what not, and knew not to be rough. So I would say yes but only if your puppy is used to really small animals, especially if they are babies. Hopefully that helps!
