I have a rabbit I’ve pretty much raised from birth and we ourselves have a very strong bond, but since I’m back in school I worry about her needing a friend. Since I don’t want to worry about bonding two rabbits with out the time to do so properly, I was thinking about adopting a rescue- chicken, female, and young enough to not be territorial. Admittedly half the reason is that I’ve fallen in love with this lil chicken, but what do you guys think? Could they be friends? Does anyone have experience with this?

        Thanks guys!

I have several hens that do not like my rabbits at all. They view them as a threat I think. They don’t mind the dogs and cats but arent fans of hedgehogs, rats and it appears my rabbit!
My female rabbit will also try and attack the hens, but I think that’s just who she is as a rabbit.
I do have friends who have hens and rabbits that dont try to kill each other, but they dont interact with one another as friends. More just co-exist .

Birds arent really affectionate towards mammals.
A bond between a bun and chicken would be adorable but highly unlikely I’m afraid

Aside from that, hens don’t like to be the only ones of their kind, they are flock animals, and they like the company of each other, to do similar things. If you think you want one, another 2 wont hurt-the smallest functional unit is a flock of three I think-it minimizes bullying etc.
