I now have 2 buns that r both males they arent bonded. I am currently using yesterdays news pellets as there litter with newspaper. I am going threw alot of newspaper and yesterdays news is there a cheaper litter? Ive used horse bedding in the past and wood stove pellets didnt care for those.

The only really cheap litters that I know of are the wood stove pellets and horse stall pellets. There are probably some store brand or off brand versions of Yesterday’s News, but they still wouldn’t be as cheap as the wood stove and horse stall pellets. Have you tried looking in feed stores to see what they may have? They might be more likely to have large size bags of litter, which are usually the ones that give you a better price.

YES! I just switched last month. If you have a Tractor Supply store near you, buy the equine pine pellets. They are safe as they have had most of the oils processed out of them, and when they get wet, they turn to saw dust. You get 40 pounds for $6!!! Then, in their fencing section, buy a roll of small-holed mesh wiring ($10). Trim it to fit your litter box exactly, and either file, spray paint, or curl sharp edges under. Now, I just dump the poos and soiled hay and scoop the wet dust out with a horse feed scoop ($3). My litter never smells, I use a lot less, and I am not wasting so much hay and litter!

Wood pellets really are one of the cheapest options – I use the equine pellets from the tractor supply store as well.
One thing you could try is shredded paper – sometimes you can find local businesses that will give it away (the bank I used to work at did this. they saved all their shred and a local vet clinic would come picked it up and used it for their bedding). That is very dependent on if you can find a business to give it to you/sell it to you though but it’s worth a shot.

Your account doesn’t say where you’re from… Two ideas

Your local hardware store & wood stove pellets: $4.99-$5.99/40lbs
I buy 2 bags, 40lbs each, at a time and it fills a Rubbermaid container; lasts me about 2 months.

Use baled hay: Small bale = 3 large Rubbermaid containers/$10-$20
If you live near farm land this is perfect

Line the litter box with a few sheets of newsprint first (it helps with tidy up) then use one of these on top.
