        Questions on speedating

        1) Is it better to get a female or male? because i want this bunny and its from the same shelter we got him he is 11 months but i heard it is better for male and female pair so im not really sure

        2) does age matter when bonding?

        3) for example if i get a new bunny and they become bonded when i bring both home to their enclosure will my old bunny become territorial and aggressive towards the new bunny? or will they stay bonded or do i have to continue with bonding session?

Anything is possible, but male-female is a good combo to try for. However, personality is the deciding factor that determines how well rabbits bond, which is why people do speed dating.

You wanna bond rabbits closer in age. It can be a few years apart, but I wouldn’t do more than that. Probably not best to bond an elderly bun with a teen. And all rabbits should be spayed/ neutered for at least A MONTH before you start bonding.

Rabbit bonding is a process that usually takes time, and you will likely have to put in the hard work after you bring them home. Speed dating and bonding are two different things. Speed dating means you are making sure they actually like each other to help bonding work. Bonding is when you do the actual work to help the rabbits form a permanent relationship, which is why bonded bunnies shouldn’t be split up. Go to the bonding section on BinkyBunny and read up as much as you can before bonding two rabbits, so that you know what you are in for. If you don’t bond them properly, you will likely see territorial aggression (which you referred to), and they may seriously hurt each other, which will make bonding really hard. It’s tempting to take short cuts, but don’t do it. Patience is the best thing a bunny owner can have.

          Good luck!
