My poor rabbit had the worst panic attack today. He heard a strange noise and started running full speed around his pen, ramming himself into it as hard as possible. His nose and mouth are a little bloody, and some of his fur fell out and is in parts of his pen. He did it several times until my boyfriend managed to get a hold of him; he then ran under our bed and hid for a while. It was hands down the scariest thing I have ever seen.

He’s acting normal now, so is it safe to say that he isn’t going to have/didn’t have a heart attack? I know bunnies can easily die from simply being frightened, but since he seems okay now (hopping around, eating, etc) can I assume that he’ll be okay?

he had a bloody nose and mouth? possibly get him a checkup soon to make sure he is ok. aslong as he is acting normal and not showing signs of any pain. he could have gotten damage ramking himself. so get him checked ous as soon as you can.

What could be wrong with him besides a mild scratch? I don’t know too much about rabbit health.

I would definitely have him checked if he hit so hard to injure himself. I mean if it happened to a person, that person would go to a doctor, right?
That’s exactly what a prey animal does to run away from a predator, so no anxiety issues here ^^
The fur falling out is normal, when stressed a rabbit will shed fur and if he lets you, make sure to groom him so that you remove the fur he “expelled”.
How old is he? If he’s very young it can be he still is learning the wide range of strange human noises…

He’s about four months, almost five! I only found one small clump of his fur, I brushed him after the incident and he hasn’t had any shedding at all since.

Ah so, he’s still a baby! Good news, means he’s calmed down. But do have him checked. Bunny skulls aren’t as thick as human skulls. Surely he’s fine, but better to be safe than sorry. He’s also of the right age for his vaccines, so in case he hasn’t received it yet, you could use this unfortunate chance to get the shots, have his nails done etc etc

Thank you so much for your responses, I will be contacting the vet in the morning to have him seen!
