Can you give a picture? Red colouration is a sign of something very very serious, seek immediate vet care.

What Ben said, get to the vet asap! Only a professional can say what’s going on.

The only thing I can think of is that he might have been injured by bonking his head against something or some kind of eye illness…

Please do get your bunny to the vet if you have not, i am guessing you have searched the internet about it and you have taken him in, if not get him there now.

Does it look like a subconjunctival hemorrhage (i.e. blood vessels in the eye that ruptured)? Your bun could have injured his eye in some way. At least that’s what it sounds like from your description, but it’s hard to tell. Did you take a picture?

gosh what could this be? So now I have to keep a look out on her eyes? Goodness, I don’t have kids for a reason. I am going to need a bunny nanny.

Lovebellabun, that’s exactly how I feel. I’m always so paranoid, can I just have someone in the family be a rabbit vet? I want to be a vet when I grow up, so free vet care for me!

                          Ben: BREATHE! LOL

Seriously, all-caps “this will be fatal”, “24 hours” when we’re all speculating is a bit panicky.

I agree. IF it is a burst blood vessel, it could be a sign of infection or injury. BUT it could also be the natural pigmentation of the iris. Buns, like people and other animals, can have spots on their irises that are free of melanin, making that part of the iris look like albino eyes – just in pinprick size.

Either way, a trip to the vet to determine what it is would be best sooner rather than later. At the very least so that WE can stop worrying. Without any pictures or professional training, it’s easy for worried fellow bun parents to imagine the worst about what they can’t see.

Q8 – The description is a bit difficult to interpret, I agree. I too thought about perhaps it is just unusual coloring on the iris. The Vienna gene especially is known to do some weird things with eye pigment.

Sorry, Q8. I was imagining the sort of raised bubble from e cuniculi when it gets bad in the eye. That worries me a lot :
