I don’t know if this is the right place buy I’m desperate. My dogs killed the mother and the rest of the litter. I managed to save one baby that was in my dogs mouth. Luckily it’s not injured. How do I take car of it? Please do not tell me to take it to the vet and all that stuff. I need to know how to care for it at home. I managed to get the mothers fur and the rest of the nest into a bowl and placed the baby inside. Here are some pictures.

Thank you for looking out for this little one.
Here is some in depth info on baby cottontails and their needs.

I would try get in touch with a wildlife rehabber in your area for further advice. Hand rearing a cottontail is notoriously difficult.

          Good luck!

I’m confused. Is this a baby cottontail or a domestic rabbit? I agree with Jersey. If it’s a cottontail, your best bet is to contact a wildlife rehabber. Depending on where you live, it may be against the law to possess a wild animal without a permit. Cottontails require different care than a domestic rabbit and a trained wildlife rehabber will have the resources to help him.
