This is just a fun post, I just put on some Leadbelly (a very old bluesman, recorded back in the 1940s and best known for ‘Pick a bale of cotton’) and she went mad as a march hare! She especially likes ‘Frankie and Albert’, binkying and perking ears up at the instrumentals when the twelve string guitar plays alone. It’s always interesting to see them respond differently to each song and instruments/voice. What music do your buns like?

          Awww that sounds adorable!

I’ve yet to find any music my buns will show happy signs for. Most of the time they just ignore it after figuring out where the noise is coming from. HA! They’re more interested in the sound of a shaking treat bag.

Autumn has great taste in music! My last bunny was a blues fan too. She loved music. I noticed she would perk up when I turned the music on. She also had a little bell that she loved to rattle. She let me know what music she did not like! Odette is still very young and hasn’t shown any curiosity toward music or bells yet.

As an aside, I did a blues road trip to visit the Crossroads/Clarksdale, Ms. and included Leadbelly’s cemetary. He is buried in a very old, rural church cemetary outside Shreveport, La toward the Texas border. People put guitar picks on his grave as respect. We were lost getting there and stopped at the main Shreveport library only to find they had an extensive archival collection and an onsite Ledbelly expert. We made the site right at sundown–which was perfect.

When Bindi was younger he used to love when my husband would play Weird Al music. The fast paced songs would make him zoom around. It was really funny. Never noticed a preference with any of my other rabbits.

Sorry this is such a late reply- I forgot I wrote this 😮

Archer- she used to be afraid of the speakers and tried to attack them once but now she knows its not harmful she likes quite a few songs. but yes- treats are the red alert, the biggest priority!

Odette- I can imagine her throwing down the bell and stomping at a song she hates I do think it’s an age thing for autumn- it seems as she gets older she likes music more, maybe learn (by being around humans) to understand it to some degree. Wow, I would love to go there one day myself but live across the pond someday. I’m glad you got the chance to experience what you did, it must have been haunting but beautiful all the while.

LPT- haha, must have been good for getting him to exercise

That is exactly what Manon did when she disliked a song– she tossed that bell and thumped. Odette is coming around on music, but I question her taste, quite frankly. She likes the timer on my phone best!

The Leadbelly trip was surreal. Haunting and beautiful is an apt description.

Odette- I think rabbits have influenced how my mind works a little too much
I’m glad it was, it’s a strange but great combination, part of the reason most of the music I listen to was recorded a long time ago.
