Right now I have a ceramic bowl I am using for his water but when he starts to run around the fleece I use under the xpen moves and the water bowl is usually knocked over. I am wanting to switch to one of the lock on crock type bowls that I can attach to the side of the xpen. Would it be best to get a plastic bowl or a stainless steel bowl?

He is only 9 weeks old so right now he is not litter trained and needs the fleece flooring.

Uhm… I vote neither I have found the perfect solution to my own problem (bun throwing the bowl around) by buying a 3 kgs heavy marble hashtray. It weights more than the bun and impossible to move. Even if the bun could move it, he can’t grab it or push it because the hashtray is bulky and rounded

I too say neither steel nor plastic, but if those were my only options, I’d chose steel because steal is more hygienic and a bunny won’t eat steel.

I use heavy, glazed stoneware bowls. My buns need heavy bowls or they throw their bowls around for fun.

I also use ceramic, however out of those two, definitely stainless steel. Plastic once it gets even small scratches that you can’t see tends to harbour bacteria and can be tricky to clean completely. Stainless steel doesn’t have that problem. It also can’t be chewed as mentioned by bam.

The bowl I have now is a very heavy ceramic but I have coroplast underneath the pen I built with fleece on top and when he gets to running around at 90mph it moves the fleece and water bowl and occasionally he will find a way to get under the fleece and knock everything on top of the fleece around including the litter box ?

I also use a heavy ceramic crock.

Plastic is a bad choice because it can get scratches which can trap bacteria.

How about one that attaches to the cage?

Thats exactly what I ended up getting and its working out great! Its a plastic bowl that locks onto the cage and the stainless steel bowl sits inside so you can easily remove it to clean it everyday and put fresh water in.
