        Hi there!
My bunny Licorice has been acting weird.
Today he slept all day, and hasn’t been eating much. I’m concerned because he’s usually the happiest and most active bunny.
However, I know this has nothing to do with it, but lots of possums have been getting killed around my house, and he’s an outside bunny, so I’m starting to think he’s frightened and hasn’t been sleeping as a result. Is he tired? Has he slept? I don’t know!! Help me!

Rabbits can certainly be frightened and stressed out by predators or any other animals around them. You have to carefully monitor how much your rabbit is eating and pooping. If he stops eating or is only eating and pooping very little, you will probably have to get him started on the regimen to help with GI stasis. That may mean a visit to the vet for fluids and for a motility medicine, as well as for some Critical Care. You could also try giving him some infant simethicone drops is he isn’t eating much and if you see that he seems to be in some discomfort, like shifting around or sitting hunched over.

Can you bring him inside, so that there aren’t any scary animals around him? Why are possums getting killed? Has anyone been putting out poison and is there a possibility that your rabbit has ingested any, if he ever runs around loose in your yard?

I agree about bringing him inside. Even if just for a few days to keep an eye on him and see if he is toileting. Is there somewhere safe indoors he could be? A new environment should make him curious enough to want to move around. If he continues to stay tucked away, not eating, drinking or toileting, then he will need to see a vet.
