My aunt’s dog might have fleas and she’s not home during evenings so I walk and feed him but then this leaves me wondering how do I prevent them from coming home with me to Bun bun? I can’t just leave the dog but fleas are definitely not wanted!! Preventions? What to do if buns does get them??

Hi! I use Revolution Puppy and Kittens Up To 2kg flea treatment on my bunny once a month. I don’t empty the whole vial and I put it between her ears but further back near the base of her head where she cant lick it. She still scratches the wet patch and licks her foot but that’s minimal and has not affected her so far.
I have neighbours with a lot of cats who often play in my yard, and I’ve had experience with flea infestations, and prevention is 100000% better than the mess of trying to get rid of them. Good luck!

If your aunt’s dog has fleas, he should be treated for them. Their house would also need to be kept very clean, with repeated vacuuming to get up any fleas or flea eggs that are on the carpet or other places in the house. Fleas only stay on the animal part of the time, the rest of the time they are in rugs, upholstery, etc.

After you leave that house, before coming back to your house, you should rub your hands all over your clothing and skin, to hopefully dislodge any fleas that may have jumped on you. If your bunny does get fleas, you can use Revolution kitten formula or Advantage. NEVER use Frontline. You would also have to keep your house well vacuumed if you bring fleas home.

Thanks for the input, guys. I asked her and she said he’s on flea prevention so it shouldn’t be fleas… Maybe he’s having other skin issues but if it is fleas, and they come to my house I will definitely NOT use frontline

Revolution works really great for us.  All of our rabbits have been house rabbits.  They still can occasionally get fleas.  Fleas can be in the grass, and if hungry they’ll jump on you.  Another great place to get a flea on you is at the vet!  But fleas don’t like hairless animals.  Once you get in the house they’ll jump on the rabbits.  I think there are fleas that prefer some species of animals over others, but I think they’ll attack any animal if hungry.  Revolution.
