Hi! so my new rabbit Stella (around 4 and a half months old) was snorting last night? It was almost like wheezing whenever she was breathing. I brought her up and was laying in her with my bed when I moved her a little bit and started making these loud wheezing/snorting? noises. I have never heard this with either of my three previous rabbits. I want to take her to my vet but my mom keeps insisting she’s fine (just bc she doesn’t want to spend the money on the vet visit when we are going to be going in, in a few weeks for her before spay check up) she came up and heard the noises herself and NO ONE in their right mind would think the noises she was making were normal. I did notice that she was also sneezing a lot so whenever she sneezed the wheezing would stop and she would start breathing normally then it would start in again. I also noticed that her left eye was watering a lot. the hair in front of the eye was a little matted and I could tell her skin was irritated. I know I will not be able to take her in this week but next week I most likely will is there anything I can do to help her? or anything it sounds like. I also, considered that it could be just bc of her hair getting caught in her nose + eye she is a VERY fluffy angora and the night this happened we had just groomed her. I also was just with her tonight to feed her dinner and she started eating weirdly like with her head tilted up and she made several pauses while the food would just sit in her mouth then would start again. Please Help! P.S. sorry for talking a lot + being so repetitive I’m just rlly worried.

id take her to the vet before for spay just to make sure shes okay. a wheezing bun isnt good. did she have any snot from her nose after she sneezed? like thick discharge? then i would really take her.

She does sound like she has some congestion. Tilting the head up like that (nose pointing) is when they’re not breathing adequetely through the nose. She might have been relying a little on mouth-breathing which she would have to stop while eating.

Does she have any wood type products in her habitat? Or scented litters?

She is having respiratory problems and should be checked out by her vet. Health problems are best treated when they are first noticed. It can be dangerous to wait a few weeks. She may be having allergy problems or it could be a bacterial infection, but a vet needs to determine that and set up the best treatment for her. If it is allergies, there may be something in her environment that is bothering her, as jerseygirl suggested. You would have to do some detective work to figure out what the problem might be.

okay thanks! the only dusty kind of things I have in her cage is some aspen pellets for her litter box and her alfalfa. I will definitely try to get her into the vet asap. I was also wondering if it could be her fur shedding. I do think her nose is blocked up. it sounds stuffy.
