Both of my adult rabbits do this behavior, and I haven’t actually read about it anywhere.  If I’m laying down, BOTH adult rabbits like to jump on my back.  Not at the same time (yet.  I’m planning on trying to bond them once Sweetie recovers from being fixed, which won’t even happen until the 12th), of course, but still…

That’s Remy having claimed my back.  It’s good fun, and obviously he likes it because he’ll do it no matter where I am (we often go in the bathroom as it’s cool in there, and he likes to dig the rugs).

But Sweetie does it too.  Anyone else have a Hop on Pop/Mom situation?  Any idea why they do this?  I’ve tried looking it up but this particular behavior isn’t mentioned in the pages I’ve found so far.

Rabbits are naturally curious and love to explore. One way to help with bonding a rabbit to you, is letting them explore you like that. Its like a little game Our (my boyfriend and i) buns like to jump on our backs and we will crawl around with the buns on us. Blue will binky a ton afterward and try to jump back on. Badger uses the extra lift to jump onto the back of the couch. And Bombur is a bit nervous about the crawling parts, but likes to nest on our backs if we just lay there

Awww, that sounds so cute! I wasn’t sure if it was a dominance thing, or a “I want to be near you” thing, or just a “LOOK, I’M GETTING HIGHER!” thing (since both rabbits like to climb). I tried walking with Remy on my back a few times and he seemed okay with it, though a little surprised his perch was moving.

LOL yea, the first time my Blue jumped onto my back and i crawled around, he was terrified. I didnt realize he was nervous with me moving. But now, its apart of our everyday play and he loves it

My Dexter does it too and I’ve never had thought of it more than just an exploring thing? And I’ve definitely never tried crawling around while he’s on top of me lol I was afraid to frighten him, but I’m gonna try it out!

My little Bridge Bun Stormy used to do the “Momma Taxi”. He would jump on my back and I would crawl around and take him from one couch to the other. He wasn’t spoiled or anything! My current bunnies don’t climb on me. I miss it. Stormy used to climb all over me and give me kisses.

I haven’t had this happen to me (Because if I get down that far I probably won’t get back up, lol) but it sounds like the cutest thing.
