Hello everyone. I am unsure if this is the right forum for this, to be honest I’m not sure if what I’m about to post is allowed but I hope some of you can help.

My bun Appa was semi-diagnosed with Torticollis a.k.a head tilt. It is not a disease in and of itself, rather a side effect of something bigger. I took him to an emergency vet the day I found out, but they were unequipped to deal with exotics and were unable to diagnose the cause.

I have to take Appa to a specialist, who will be able to run further tests and give me proper treatment for him. However, I work two jobs and a visit to the specialist alone is more than I make in two weeks… never mind the medications they will prescribe or any additional testing they might have to do.

Hi Appa! Welcome to BB! Unfortunately, we cannot allow links to gofundme pages. Although you were not asking for money directly, only asking people the share the link, it’s still against forum rules.

My suggestion: Check out facebook and other social media platforms. There are TONS of rabbit groups that you can join. I’m sure someone would be willing help you out by sharing your link there.

I’m truly sorry to hear about your little bun, his illness and your financial difficulties. We are more than willing to help you brainstorm ideas for getting him the care he needs. For example, you can ask your vet about making payments. Or you could open a Care Credit account.

If you cannot afford a specialist, there are other things you can do. Although not ideal, your regular vet could start your bun on an antibiotic and an antiparasitic. This is often done with headtilt cases that are difficult to diagnose. Whether it’s bacteria or EC, one of the medications would help. If your bunny shows improvement, then you know it was one of the two. EC is particularly sneaky because there are often false negatives in test results. Treatment is pursued and bunny gets better, confirming it was EC. Anyway, if his headtilt isn’t severe and he is otherwise healthy, doing a just in case style treatment with an antibiotic and antiparastic probably wouldn’t hurt.
