I was giving thumper medicine and instead of grabbing his ear drops I put .34ml of metacam down his ear. I washed it out with  water but I am so worried he isn’t going to be okay. Its my first say with them and I just got so confused.

Probably take him to the vet to get his ears flushed. I dont know if its ok or not but go when you can, maybe just call the vet and tell her what happened.

Call the vet now, explain what happened. Take her there asap.

If you washed it, then it shouldn’t be absorbed if not in tiny quantities. Do make sure that the ear is completely dry inside, because rabbit ears trouble waiting to happen (ear infections/otitis). Wait it out and check if he behaves differently than usual and please, organize your medicines so that you won’t do this mistake again

I’m going to call the vet tomorrow since they are closed today. My mom said that it didn’t have time to fully absorb because I got the water in as soon as I did it and he shook it out. But I will keep an eye on him

Thats good. Keep a close eye on him. If hes acting normal, take him to the vet anyway. You never know how far down i could have went.

Even if he absorbed some, such a low dose of metacam isn’t a problem (unless he’s allergic to it, but it’s not common). I’d be more worried about the fact that water went in the ear… monitor him for possible ear discomfort. Don’t worry!

It wasn’t a lot of water it was about .3 ml. And not all the way down into his ear just enough on the upper part to make him shake his head

Though say he got an ear infection. Wouldn’t the Baytril we have fix that?

Please do calm down. Your bunny will be fine. Try and get an appointment as early as possible at the vet. Make sure he is eating and drinking normal. Make sure he is not in pain, or shaking his head alot. As long as he is acting normal it is okay to wait until tomorrow.

I too think it’s ok to wait. Call your vet first thing when they open. They’ll tell you if you need to come in. 0,34 ml is a very small amount and you reacted immediately. Pat his little ear dry with sth soft. Give him a treat. Give yourself a treat too

I’m sure he will be OK.
