Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here, but I’m slighly concerned. My rabbit is molting and he has a pretty large (maybe thumb sized) bald spot on his side. It’s right above the molt line and doesn’t appear agitated or flaky, but it’s there. He also lets me touch it so I don’t think it’s sore. He’s the first bunn I’ve ever had so I don’t really know if this is normal. He’s also only 8 months old. Thanks for any help/advice!

It’s normal for buns to shed in patches. Some buns do that with every shed and some just get bald spots sometimes and others never get bald spots, but it’s all normal if they do. Your bun is about to get his adult coat now. As long as the skin is fine, it’s not a concern at all, but admittedly the bun can look like it’s been severely neglected when that type of shed is going on. Within a week fuzzy new fur like fine short velvet will have started to grow

My bun molts like that. She is actually dealing with several bald spots right now and for a while her little bunny butt was all bare! Make sure to keep and eye on the skin. Julep will go from a nice pink to a gray as the fur grows in so some color change is normal. I have also had to put some coconut oil on her because of dry skin as the fur gre back in. They may look ridiculous while molting but a little bit of baldness isn’t terrible.
