I’m not sure if this is just normal breathing but it kinda worries me since my Mini Rex doesn’t breath like this when resting.

He also has a damp nose most of the time.

Is that you? Rabbits dont really wiggle their noses when sleeping. Rabbits dont need to wiggle their noses to breathe.

I really couldn’t see your rabbit’s breathing all that well, so I can’t comment on it. Some rabbits will have a damp nose, and it can be perfectly normal. One of my rabbits has a damp nose a lot of the time. But if you see white, yellow or any color discharge coming from the nose, then that is not normal and it would call for a vet visit.

Your rabbit breathing seemed fine. Unless you notice sneezing, colored discharge, a lot of discharge, or wheezing/ congested sound, I would not worry. My Holland lops will sometimes get a bit of a wet nose. And my velveteen lop has clear discharge pretty often, but the vet said it was not an issue. The only thing I saw was a slight head motion, which might be scanning. Has been tested for e cuniculi?

Thanks for the input. Just the way his chest moves it just heavier compared to my Mini Rex. He acts perfectly normal, no changes in behavior. Just thought I’d check here to see if I was just over reacting.

I noticed the scanning motion too. Is your bunny red eyed? It doesn’t look like it in the video, but it was a little dark. Dark eyed rabbits can scan too, but it is a lot more common in red eyed rabbits.

His mother was a rew from what I remember. When I first got him I asked the breeder about it he just said it was normal and that the one from the litter he kept does it as well.

I couldn’t really see anything abnormal with his breathing either. It might be more noticable with him because of the longer fur perhaps. Have you ever seen the back and forth motion of fur movement on the sides of abdomen? (peristalsis) It looks like a subtle rolling motion. It’s hard to capture on camera.
I tried to film it once, I’ll try see if I can find the video.

He is certainly handsome, and he seems very friendly and curious. He reminds me of my lop George. The head motion is something you want to watch.
