        Looking for some info.

I noticed this a while ago but never really thought much of it! When Muffins laying about in her cage and when she’s out her nose twitches so fast (like she’s breathing really fast). I read on google that it can mean she is scared.. but she doesn’t seem scared of anything and nothing in the room has changed. Sometimes it’s really fast and others its normal. Does this happen with anyone else? It happens when she’s at the vet (i can tell by the look in her eye and her stance that she’s scared though) but also happens when she’s out playing and in her cage. I’m not concerned about it just wanted to know what it is/why she does it Thanks

My Georgie does fast noes twitching when she is excited, smelling a fresh breeze coming in the window, or foraging for desirable crumbs under the dining room table *like right now*

Most notably when she is in the midst of what I call a Kibble Frenzy, which is when my bf and I hand feed her pellets back and forth, her little noes is twitching fast as a paint can shaker!!! Oh the excitement!

When the noes action is accompanied with the wide eyes it’s more fear, as you’ve noticed with your vet visit, otherwise part of excitement and scent information collection/curiousity

          I’d consider it normal

Oh! It can mean she’s overheating too…

If rabbits are in heat stress they appear to hyperventilate.

Since you didn’t mention it being hot or humidity level I didn’t think of it at first.

If you aren’t sure check her ears for being hot; if the ears are really warm so is bunny

Im leaning more towards her overheating if she is laying down while breathing fast. Rabbits are prone to having different health issues if they are hot. You can add ice to your rabbits water, a ceramic tile (they stay cold almost all the time, so rabbits like to lay on them), an ice water bottle lightly wrapped in a hand towel, an ice freezer pack, a fan on half of the cage/pen, ect

Yeah i think she might be overheating then, she is in my bedroom (converted conservatory) and some days it gets really hot with all the windows the sun shines in and at times the room can be too hot for even me and my boyfriend.. i’ll buy her a fan and leave that on for her through the day. and i am planning on getting a roll of ceramic tiles for on top of her house in her cage (she destroyed a raspberry and has left what looks like a blood stain on the wood) thank you both Georgie and Mikey! I really appreciate it

LOL my bunnies did the same on the top level of their cage as well! Tile is an awesome idea to cover it up and keep your bun cool at the same time
