I’ve been unemployed for the past 3 months and so have had a pretty flexible routine for spending time with Gus, though I’ve tried to keep his play times to a few hours in the morning (starting around 8am) and evening (starting around 7pm)

Now I’ve gotten my old job back (long story, lol) and it’s shift work.  I’ll be working a lot of shifts where I won’t get home till around 4am.

Will waking him up at that hour for a run be too disruptive to his normal sleep pattern?   I just don’t want him to have no attention at all from 7pm-12pm while I work/sleep.

Could you put him in a secure playpen to play when he wants?

Bunnies tend to adjust to their humans. Naturally, rabbits are most active at dusk and dawn, then they lounge for most of the day. But they can adjust to an extent. They like company so he probably wants to spend time with you when you are able to, regardless of the time of day. (For a rabbit, spending time with a human can mean lounging together).
