Snowfire is my boyfriend’s younger brother’s rabbit. He’s been sick for a while and unable to take care of her, so she is “my” rabbit for the forseeable future.

Two days ago she was not as active as usual and refused to eat. I took her to the vet and dose of meloxicam and some Critical Care had her right as rain, though the vet did not know what the exact problem was. Either slightly overgrown molars or a possible hairball. I’m curious about how she was acting before the vet visit. She was obviously belly pressing but whenever she did it, she would back her butt into a corner of her cage until the panels were pressing quite firmly against her hindquarters. Even when I was chasing her around to get her in the carrier, she would scoot back into a corner. I couldn’t find any mention of this behavior when I was Googling around. Any of your rabbits ever do that?

My rabbits do this when they pee and poop. Theyll press their butts back as far as they can to the side or corner of the litter box, then go. Its possible your bun has a blockage and is trying to go, but cant

Your rabbit may also be experiencing bouts of gas. Infant simethicone drops can really help with that. The dosage is 1 – 2 ml every hour for 3 hours. You can also give her tummy massages if you suspect gas. There are You Tube videos showing how to do that.

I agree. These symptoms suggest something isn’t right in her tummy. Gas is probably the most likely cause.
