Forum DIET & CARE Can rabbit have corn husks

        Hi I was wondering about rabbits and corn husks as I have done some recherche as found a lot of mixed opinions a lot of rabbit treats and toys contain corn husk and a lot of the good natural brand include corn husk in there bunny products and views on weather it us good or not for your Bunny and what the effes are if consumed.

          I don’t think you should risk it. Corn is bad for rabbits and possibly the husk is bad too. I would not take the risk.

            Ben is right. Corn and corn husks and dried corn cobs are risky and can cause blockage in the rabbit intestines. There’s corn husk litter that’s best avoided too.

              For me personally corn husks can be dangerous, yes, but they’re also safe in moderation. If you have a rabbit that when you give it a toy will chew it up a whole lot in one sitting, then corn husks toys aren’t appropriate due to risk of blockage. However if your rabbit will only nibble slightly here and there and toss the toy around, then there’s no danger. When in doubt, corn husk toys can be used as supervised toys only and if you notice too much eating then take it away.

              As mentioned though, corn itself is dangerous as the hull of the kernel is made of cellulose which cannot be digested. So if the kernels aren’t chewed thoroughly, they can pass through without being digested as the enzymes can’t get past the hull, which can lead to blockages.

                no nothing about corn Is good for rabbits or guinea pigs! it blocks their digestive system and makes their belly explode.
