Hey guys so, My bunny cheeks lost his sister i think close to a month ago and in the first few weeks he didn’t show any bad signs of stress and anything like that. But i have been noticing recently that he stays up on the second level most of the day and im worried he’s not getting enough exercise cause i let him free range in our hallway. He is still eating his hay and food and his poop his normal, I guess he just seemed lonely and i try to spend as much time with him a i can. The reason why we decided not to get another bunny is because were worried that if the two dont get along we dont have space for the other bun to go. You guys have any tips o how to keep a single bunny happy and also get execise? thanks

I have a single bunny, easier for me and he gets all the treats, only one bunny to maintain, make sure you talk to your bunny every day even when feeding, I put my Bunny’s pen near the PC because that is where I spend most of my time and I talk about what film we are watching and what I’m doing, he loves it, the other night we were watching a horror movie, but most videos we watch are old black and whites or things like The Wind in the Willows he enjoys it.

Some shelters offer bunny speed-dating, so you can bring your bun to meet other buns and find one he clicks with.
It does sound like he’s a bit lonely. My only advice would be the same as Charlie’s Angels: Try to include him in your daily activities as much as you can. Talk to him, cuddle with him extra.

We’re in a similar situation with Thabbit, who we believe is a dwarf mix. His sister passed about 6 weeks ago, and he pretty much spends all  day sitting in the 2nd level of his cage soaking in some sunlight. Usually with eyes closed and ears back, though here’s a picture of him right now:

I sometimes worry he’s lonely, and we didn’t have the BunnyCam set up when his sister was still alive, so I don’t know what life was like before – but I think it used to be that the two of them would pretty much just sit there all day, or she would sit there and he’d sit in one of the cardboard box “caves” (his “man cave”)

My understanding is that this is pretty normal for a rabbit.

My boy doesn’t like being picked up either, can you go up to him when he has finished running round and stroke him and talk to him? You can talk to your bunny about anything, like the other day I was taking out the loose fur in his coat and telling him about soup, telling him the cheap cans had gone up to 49Pence from 39pence and that I had to see the doctor again soon about my eyes (Because I’m Visually Impaired) well he listened and then I was talking to him about some problem round here, I’m the female version of Homer Simpson on my street, but I don’t steal from my neighbour, his surname is Flanders too and goes to church.

I also have a single bunny and worry about him being lonely when I’m not here. He lived in unsuitable conditions with 17 other rabbits so he’s covered in scars and I don’t want to introduce him to another bun for now. He has free run of the flat though and seems like a happy little chap.

I’ve really noticed Bertie has been lethargic recently in the heat, so that might have something to do with it?
