I think it would be better for me to make my own bunny shampoo since most of the time it’s hard for me to find a shampoo at the stores. I usually find just powder or spray I think it would be better to just make it my self. I see a lot of diy pet shampoos but I’m very skeptical to use since it’s not specified if it’s bunny safe so I haven’t tried any. Does anyone recommend anything?

          Hi Julie

Is there any reason why you are needing to bathe her?

One of the simplest things to help clean up soiled fur is using cornstarch. Just massaging in into the fur then combing it out.

Bunnies really shouldn’t be bathed unless they have had sth really bad happen to them and you absolutely must get something toxic off of them. Bunnies can panic if you bathe them, because it’s not natural for them to be in water. Brushing goes a long way to keep a bunny clean, and you should brush your bunny often, esp when it’s molting.

If a bunny gets a very dirty butt, you can do a butt-bath, ie a bath where only the butt gets wet and shampooed. After, you dry the wet area carefully, so the bunny doesn’t run around with a wet butt and get cold.

I hope you’re not too disappointed by this, but your bun will be happier if you don’t bathe it =) When I have to give a butt bath I use diluted dog shampoo or organic liquid soap, just a little bit.

It can be dangerous and very stressful to bathe a rabbit. Sometimes a bunny butt bath is called for if they have a really messy bottom, but you would only do that if it’s absolutely necessary, and you would just use a very small amount of water, like an inch in a plastic tub, to make sure that you wet the rabbit as little as possible. A wet rabbit is not healthy and being wet can lead to serious problems.

Thank you! I’ve also seen videos of bunnies swimming on YouTube lol. I guess that’s why I figured it would be fine.
