My apartment has a hardwood floor, and my two bunnies live cage-free. I have a large blanket that is heavy-duty enough to be a rug, with a soft velvety surface, but is flexible enough to go in the washing machine.

I’m looking to buy a new one, as the existing blanket / rug is dirty and chewed-on. I don’t know the brand so I can’t repurchase.

Does anyone have a specific brand / product they like? I’d like it to be quite large, to take up most of the floor of a small bedroom. Maybe even a great product that’s smaller and can be paired two together. And preferably not super fuzzy as they will undoubtedly pee on it and I’ll be sweeping up pellets and hay off of it.

        Buns need a new one!

        Thx!

Do you have a photo of the one you had? It sounds like those faux mink blankets.

I’ve found cotton dhurrie rugs good. They are flat weave so easy to sweep debris off them. And can be put through the washing machine. You can get big ones. They’d also be easy enough to sew smaller ones together to form a bigger one.

              Oh how cute is she!!

It looks like a velour blanket. Or coral fleece? Maybe others will be able to identify it better.

I use baby blankets and old towels, I get them from the charity shop and wash them well, then hang them to dry, no posh blankets until we move.

I actually think I recongnize the rug! I was just looking at it to get for my bunnies but I settled on just getting more fleece as it was a little out of my price range. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0087RPIE6/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

Is that it? It’s from a company called dormco and it is their microfiber rug.

that is the exact same rug! wow i’m surprised. it was a gift so idk if i would spend that much on a new one.

one problem is that the two sides are two separate pieces, sewn together at the edges. because of that, the two layers get shifted (and don’t stay flat) when i wash it, plus it makes it easier for the buns to chew through the thinner microfiber layer. the trim sewn around and connecting the two layers has also come unwoven in some spots, which would be easy enough to mend if my sewing machine worked and could be easily whipped out.

i like how large it is, but i think i’m tired of beating this one out and loading it in and out of washers and dryers. i think i may go with a smaller, tougher piece that will have more traction for them to binky about on!

                    thank you!!
