Hi there, I am very concerned for my rabbit Cherry. About an hour ago I accidentally dropped a glass cup. I was cleaning it up as fast as possible since my rabbits where having playtime in the living room. Somehow Cherry managed to sneak behind me and started chewing really loudly. I did not see what she was chewing on but I assume it was glass. I tried to get her to spit it out but it was not possible. I called the vet and she suggested to get her to the hospital. However, my family is going through some financial problems and we really cannot spend 300 dollars right now. I feel like a terrible owner for not being able to get her emergency care and if something were to happen to her I would never forgive myself. My rabbits are my life and I love them very much. Is there any way the glass will dissolve in her stomach?? Ive been watching her since this happened and she seems normal. She was exploring and adventuring. She is also pooping and I have not seen any blood in her poops. I also gave her a lot of veggies so it can get her digestive system going. Is there anything else I can do to help her? Will this go away on its own?

Also please note that if she does get worse I will take her to the emergency hospital and try to get the money somehow.

        Thank you

          You’re sure she ate glass?

Glass will not dissolve in her stomach. Was there anything on the glass that would have made it attractive to eat ? The vet would be the best option at this stage, even feeding extra to buffer will not prevent damage from small shards in the intestine. Explain to your vet and see if they can work something out financially as it will be a lot more expensive if it becomes a bigger emergency.

Thank you so much! I made an appointment with the vet tomorrow. I kept watch on her the entire night and she seems fine. Maybe it wasn’t glass after all but I am still taking her to the vet just in case
