I am a new bunny mom having had my holland lop for about 2.5 months now. She’s 17 weeks old. So far she’s been so well behaved! She was easy to potty train and has been a very tidy bunny overall, including only chewing her toys and keeping her hutch clean. I am a teacher and I just recently started school again. Since then—Meadow has lost it. She has had two tinkle accidents this week and is pooping all over when she’s outside her hutch. She has also begun chewing the baseboards–A LOT!! She has NEVER done this before. I live in an apartment and she has bitten the tops off so many basboards! I know it is coming time to get her spayed. Is she acting like this because I went back to work? Or because it’s time to get her spayed? She has peed on the couch before when I first brought her home around 9 weeks old. This was when we were working on litter training so I wasn’t terribly mad. However, she peed on the couch just today!! She peed on the rug in the kitchen yesterday. I don’t understand because she has never really had tinkle accidents! She’s been leaving pellets everywhere. I don’t know if she’s mad at me or if it’s just time. Help!

Welcome to the bunny teens. Your little girl is growing up and her hormones are kicking in. It may subside but most bunny owners opt for desexing once the hormonal behaviour begins.

My rabbit started doing that (defecating in new areas) and being more aggressive. Once I spayed her, she returned to normal. Although, I understand it can take some rabbits a couple months to have their hormones go back to normal after being neutered/spayed, and not all return back to the same state they were in to begin with.
