        Hey everyone

I’ve been reading your topics and informations for few months now, it’s really helpful.

I have a problem now and I need your help

I’ve had my two male bunnies for 7 months now , they grow up together , and the were together at the pet shop too and they lived in the same cage ever since.
They Fought every now and then , but it wasn’t that serious, but last Monday Night one of them bit the other on one testicle and it got infected , and I noticed that on Tuesday morning , and by Tuesday night it started to bleed , and I freaked out and booked an appointment and went to the vet the very next day. ( Wednesday , and it was actually their first time going to a vet , because it’s really expensive and they’re pretty healthy).

I took them both so they don’t freak out! When the vet saw the bite he told me he should get neutered , so I left them both at the vet and came back to get them , the vet gave me some medcation and I asked him if I should leave them in the same cage and he recommended not to.

I did as he told me , when we got back yesterday I separated them. Today morning I got them both out to have their play time and it was fine, the problem happened an hour ago when I got them out for their evening play time, the one who went throught surgery was fine he was eating and he took his medication, until the other one started sniffing him and follwing him everywhere I tried to pull him away few times , then I was trying to clean the cage and they started fighting like crazy and they just wouldn’t stop!!!! I tried getting between them and I got bitten , I saw fur flying and they were both running after each other , so I held the one who went through surgery really tight and I started crying :crying ( I know it’s stupid but I was really surprised ) and the other one ran to his cage.

Can anyone explain what just happened??? I don’t really get it.
Should I keep them separated? And if so I only have one big cage and the other cage is small he can strech out in it but he can’t stand up, and I honestly can’t buy a new one now I just payed tons for the vet

Please if anyone can help me that will be great.

All fighting is serious. You should have ended and separated every scuffle. It makes them dislike one another a little more each time, and nobody wants that. You also needed to keep them completely separated until they were both neutered and healed. Keep them separated for another month so they can heal. If only one is neutered, keep them both separated until the second one is neutered and a month after so he can heal. Get another big cage or start swapping them between cages every other day

As Mikey says wait until they are both neutered and recovered from surgery.

Neuters are so expensive, I get that you wouldn’t have enough to afford a new cage (those are expensive too). Have you thought about making your own out of these wire storage cubes. You can do something like this:

              http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tf88n-9El3U/UB2SuWE7b_I/AAAAAAAAAYQ/Ew6nz48xosM/s1600/critter+pens+009.JPG

You can get these on ebay, amazon, or target, and I’m sure some other places. A set may be around $25 and would allow your bun a good amount of space. I also recommend looking at craigslist in your area to see if you can get any secondhand, I got a bunch for $10 this way.
