My girl Hester has been struggling with chronic ear infections for months, but now that the infection is gone the vet can see the canal is full of hard wax! It’s pressed on her ear drum so removing it is tricky. I’ve been looking for a home-remedy to see if I can help loosen the wax at all, but I’m not sure if the remedies suggested are bunny-safe. One remedy is putting a drop of hydrogen peroxide in the ear. I’m already cleaning the ear with Aurocin ear wash and cotton squares but I’m worried it’s not enough. Anyone have experience in dealing with wax buildup?

        Thanks!

I’ve used ear wash formulated for dogs before. I don’t know if it would help with compacted wax or not.

Get a wad of cotton wool (big enough to “plug up” bun’s ear). Put some olive oil on it and light it on fire and then quickly put it out. When it’s comfortable to touch but still warm (a few seconds should suffice), put it in bun’s ear and keep it there for a while until it cools completely. (Bun will obviously need to be burritoed for this procedure.) Repeat as needed. The cooling “plug” creates super gentle suction and pulls up the wax stopper bit by bit.
