        Hi everyone,
Joey, my four month old neutered Netherlands dwarf has been licking everything. I’ve heard that some bunnies like to “groom” soft cushions or fuzzy couches. However, Joey has been licking the table, and me. I don’t mind him licking me, but after a while he also starts to nip. They don’t hurt much, but it isn’t a great habit for him to develop. He doesn’t like to be petted, so I don’t think it’d be an “exchange” grooming thing, as I don’t usually pet him that much because he hops away. Any ideas as to why he licks/nips so much?

Your bun may be licking the table because there is something on it. Licking is grooming, and it’s completely normal. I know my bun licks me all the time and after a while it feels like a nip but she’s still just licking. I have no idea if this is the case, but it sounds normal. Maybe this is his way of saying “I want attention” or food or something. I hope this helps.

Mine is a Netherlands dwarf too, he has been licking everything because he wants to taste everything and licking me if wants to groom him. When he nips, something has bothered him or he want to play. Also keep in mind that Netherlands dwarfs are more prone to nip than other rabbits.
