We have 2 mini dwarf lop-eared. We’ve only had them for a couple of weeks, so all of this is new to us. They’re approx 11 weeks old just now. Neither of them seem to be fussed about eating hay. I’ve tried 3 different types (Timothy hay being the latest) and they’re just not fussed by it. I seem to be throwing it all away the following day.

If I pull up some grass from my garden, they’ll much away on that, but won’t go near the hay. Is this normal?

Should I just stop giving them hay and give them as much grass as possible?

They seem healthy enough and finish their pellets every day, pretty much.

        Oh, they also love broccoli.

try feeding them alfalfa hay? 11 weeks is around 2 months ish 3 months old. so it’s normal for them to not like hay . my bunny ( 4-5 months ish) don’t like timothy hay but she loves alfalfa and orchard grass hay. Since they are young, it’s best if you start introducing them to veggies that are easy on the stomach such as romaine heart instead of broccoli. how much pellet do you give your bunnies?

I’ve tried alfafa hay, which they also don’t seem to care for.

Even though the recommendations for young bunnies are for unlimited pellets, maybe you should cut back a little and see if that will encourage them to eat hay. It sounds like they don’t eat all of their pellets every day, so maybe they are getting a little bit too much of them.

You’ve tried some different varieties, but what about different brands of hay? Some are better than others. One hay that many rabbits seem to like is American Pet Diner Timothy Gold. It is a second cutting of timothy, which is softer. It always smells fragrant and is a nice green. Petco sells that, as well as several places online.

There are hay toppers that you can buy that consist of herbs and edible flowers that you scatter on top of the hay to make it more enticing. The BB store sells some. https://store.binkybunny.com/bunny-bouquet-hay-topper-floppers-p118.aspx
