He’s been calm the last few weeks since i got him, usually just hopping along from room to room, occasionally flopping over or sprinting. At night if he’s active he’s quiet about it as I’m usually able to sleep.
But last night he went bonkers. Golbez just started digging at the plastic bottom of his cage and picking up large amounts of hay to carry and around while running around the room and sometimes picking up other objects to bring into the cage.
I give him free roam of my room at night so he brought a lot of his stuff in there that fit through the little door.
I tried to find out what I was but all examples were of female bunnies going through false pregnancies and golbez is definitely male.
I didn’t see any testicles when I turned him over awhile back so I am fairly sure he is neutered. I’ll be getting a second opinion soon.
But I managed to fall asleep to the sound of him darting around and occasionally digging. My room is now a disaster with bits of hay everywhere and poop from all his digging at his cage/litter box.
It sounds like he calmed down finally. Been doing it for 8 hours maybe less if he took breaks while I was sleeping…who knows.
I have no idea how to stop this or if I even should…is it dangerous for him to dig at that plastic? Is this too much exercise? I have the door to his cage closed with him in it now so maybe that’s what’s calming him down… maybe I should keep him locked up more often?
UPDATE: How much do vet visits cost? I’m low on money right now but I’m getting really worried.
Haven’t seen him eat (other than some poo at one point, the ones they need to eat, ya know?) but he won’t eat any celery I offer him or pellets.
He once in awhile will lay down but is usually still just running around trying to build a nest.
He seems to be lying down for longer than a couple seconds now… I laid down with him for a bit, he’s breathing rather heavily and I’m no expert but his belly felt weird.
I really hope he’s just gonna sleep it off…course he’s not sleeping in the nest he built, just on the floor of my room. Really scared for him. Is it possible that this could come from a change in diet? I tried feeding him endives or escarole or something can’t remember which is which but I grabbed some of both from the local grocery… Would diarrhea be an explanation for this? I haven’t seen any runny poop yet… When I tried turning him over to take a looksie he started twisting which of course scared me so I put him back down to prevent further injury. Anyways, he’s lying still now, still breathing pretty heavy.
UPDATE2: Well, he has started to pull out fur. I’m starting to think the place I adopted him from lied to me when the owner said “I needed female rabbits and this guy was male so I brought him in”
Probably female…likely not spayed. That’ll be a vet bill I don’t look forward to.
