Next week I am leaving at about 8 am on Thursday to drive down to mammoth cave and will be back on Friday at about 6 or 7
Do you think the bunnies will be okay it is over 24 hours without attention and so much could happen so should I have someone come like Thursday night and give them some more food?

I dunno… that’s a tough one. In theory, with enough hay and water, 24 hours should be fine.
But I’m an obsessive poop checker LOL so I’d want someone to pop in at least once every 6-12 hours to make sure my little darling is ok.
Plus: what if this cave place swallows you up? Wouldn’t you want someone to have a key and look in on the babies?

I think it would be a very good idea to have someone check your bunnies Thursday night. You are going to be gone a day and a half, and we all know that things can sometimes happen quickly with rabbits, regarding their GI system, or any other illness or injury that could occur, that would need attention. It would also be good for them to have some fresh greens and to make sure that their water bowl hasn’t been turned over, or if you use a bottle, make sure that the water hasn’t leaked out.

Whoever comes by should be familiar with rabbits and know what trouble signs to look for. I think it would also be reassuring to your bunnies to have some human contact in that day and a half.

I agree with Q8 and Tobyluv. It’s also good if someone has a key and can check on them extra in case sth happens, perhaps not exactly the cave swallowing you up, but if you have car-trouble or something.

You may even want that person to come not only on Thursday night, but again on Friday morning, since you won’t be back until Friday night. They would be used to seeing you every morning, and maybe you give them some particular food in the morning, so the person checking on them could also give them that food.

                  Q8 & bam !! rofl !!

If you can find somone trustyworthy then yes, someone popping in to top up the feed and have a stroke would be much preferred of course!

I personally have left Zou for that long, (with enough food for a week and water is guaranteed not to turn over).
She has never (touch wood) had any digestive problems (and yes I know it can happen any time, but….), or else I would not have.
Any longer and I get someone to pop in every day.

It’s a case of “what if”…. “What if something DID happen, and how would you feel….?” (a lifetime of guilt…) and you’ve got your answer

Certainly in an ideal world, someone should have a double of your keys anyway….
