So. I’ve got to use waterbottles as my rabbits absolutely love to toss around any and every bowl I give them – they even manage to knock over the ceramic ones. Not sure what to do about this, I don’t want them spilling it and getting wet, so I’ve decided to use a water bottle. I’ve heard these are advised against, not sure why, but are they fine?

Most rabbits prefer bowls. They can access the water better and easier. You have to get a really heavy crockery type bowl, and your rabbits shouldn’t be able to knock those around. I have found some good heavy bowls in feed stores in the past. There is also a store in my part of the country (southeast US) called Mast. They have a lot of American made products and one of their products is a heavy crockery bowl.

I have bought a marble ashtray to solve this problem. It weights more than the rabbit and it’s shallow enough to contain water.

Not sure what kind of cage set up you have, but I use this kind of crock that attaches to the cage. I was using water bottles at first but they kept leaking everywhee and it was a mess- though if you decide to switch I have seen where setting a brick underneath will absorb the water drips. Good luck!

Ideas if you decide to try a water bottle…
