so Lily’s carrier is falling apart and I’m looking to get a new one.  all the ones I find at pet stores look like the old one, and I’d really like something sturdier.  Any recommended brands or designs?

I would get a heavy plastic one normally sold for cats. Cannot remember the brand I use, but soft carriers should be used for cats, not rabbits. The rabbit will eat his way through them.

Also having a removable top is helpful when taking the rabbit to the vet since they usually hide in the back of the carrier and can be difficult to remove.

          Good luck.

I have the Suncast Deluxe carrier and really like it because it has open views all around, food/water trays, and feels really sturdy. It doesn’t open from the top so that might be a deal breaker for some.Olaf is too curious for his own good and will come in and out of it rather easily, which helps because he hates to be picked up.

I’ve also heard good things about this carrier for those who have rabbits that don’t mind being lifted in and out.

            A classic standby.

thanks pinknfwuffy! I’l probably go with the binny, it has a the best cost to ratings ratio.

I have the Binny. I really like the top opening feature. The vet and vet techs like it too. One time, on a recheck, my vet was able to recheck my bunny while he was in the carrier. It was a lot less traumatic for him. That being said, I wish that the carrier felt a little bit sturdier. Whenever I have had a bigger/heavier bunny in it, I feel like I have to support the bottom as I carry it, with one hand on the handle and one hand underneath. Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but for some reason I feel like the handle, or something about the carrier itself, isn’t quite as sturdy as it could be. But I do recommend the carrier. I have never used the shoulder strap and I always remove the plastic grid since I put a towel in the bottom, and I also have never used the food cup.

tobyluv, I usually support the bottom of a carrier anyway because I am paranoid. It probably won’t be an issue because Lily’s pretty small, but still, thanks for the tips.
