Greetings loungers, now as you might guess, I love D.I.Y  and rescuing old, time worn materials from the scrap heap. There is an unmatched character to them and many things; ironware, timber, masonry, mechanical motors etc are of superior strength and beauty in a way not apparent to everyone. back in 2015 i saved some lengths of roof timber from a roof alteration, 1930s vintage with the grizzled saw marks of an uneven blade that cut them over 80 years ago and had a beautiful patina of old age. along with them i saved the original rusty nails which i re-straightened and knocked this beast together with  the grill on the front is literally that- an old BBQ grill which is boarded by axe- split tile batons. The door has since been hinged in brass with a brass wire latch. She weighs 10 kilograms, without Autumn! when people see me coming by they all move aside  I built it to stand the test of time, just as it once had keeping a roof over people long since gone and it’s probably going to bury me to one day!

I would have made an extension to her condo or something… then I wouldn’t have had to pick it up…. well done you !

Vienna Blue- cool, it’s a great feeling to bring old stuff back to life. Yes, it’s outrageous isn’t haha! She feels secure in there, I don’t think any animal could harm her when she’s in it. All the people at the vet smile when I bring autumn in, partly for her and partly for the strange, ancient looking box I carry her in.

That is awesome! My husband and I love to reclaim materials too when we can. And I bet people step-aside with that. They are probably thinking — what exotic animal is there?!!  I am sure their imaginations runs wild at first.

Timber- haha, looks like this one was made for you!

BB- that’s great, I love to hear people giving these old materials a second chance, they don’t let you down. Yep, it looks like those old time lion crates from Victorian times, then I show them autumn it’s a funny juxtapose that I really like, a sturdy lion- proof box to carry a little friendly Rabbit
