So my rabbit Mochi is getting treated with penicillin SC. The vet is not my usual one as she is on vacation for two weeks. He said for me to give her .5 ml every day for 7 days, then every other day.

She is a very small rabbit, I am not sure if he factored that right. Mochi is only 2.8 pounds.

She seems a bit bleh atm, not eating her apple slice treat or her nightly amount of pellets (which is her fav). She seemed to have eaten a bit of hay earlier, but it is hard to tell.

I should also mention it has been 4 days now. Her infection seems to be cleared up pretty good now.

Infections are one of those things where you need to keep dosing for the full course, even if it seems better. Because while the physical symptoms may have gone away, the infection may not be gone completely and stopping the course can actually give the infection a chance to take hold again and become resistant to whatever drug is being used.

I can’t make any recommendations as to dosage, but definitely finish the course of penicillin.

Is it penicillin G, subcutaneous she’s getting for treponematosis (rabbit syphilis, vent disease)? Medirabbit only gives the dosage in international units, IU: 20.000 – 60.000 IU/kg for 3-5 weeks, every or every other day: Safe antibiotics rabbits

Antibiotics very often cause anappetence in rabbits and it also disturbs the GI microbiota (it does the same thing in humans of course). GI problems are often seen as a side-effect of the treatment. Probiotics are nowadays recommended for rabbits on antibiotics by f ex vet Molly Varga (info about who Molly Varga is: http://mollyvargavet.co.uk/about/)

I am going to give her some more probiotics then. I also am going to pick up some herbs because she seems to not be able to resist those even when ick.

You could always call the vet and report that you’ve seen symptoms reduce but also about her appetite. See whether she can go to having a dose every 2nd day already.
Did the vet weigh her at that appointment?
