I adopted a male bunny on July 2nd. He is around 4 years old. The last week he has been distorting his cage and when I give him veggies he will throw the veggies around and put the dish in the water dish. Then at night he will bite at his cage and scratch at his cage . He will also get out of his cage by biting at the door until it opens then he will get Luse. His cage is in my room . It is 9 1/2 feet long and 3 feet wide. I let him out to play when I am in my room. He will also put holes in all his blankets I use for his cage floor. He had a lot of toys and things to chew on. My mom and I were thinking made he wants a bunny friend? Could a bunny friend help him behave and stay in his cage at night? Or his he to old to get a bunny friend? He is 4 years old and also Nutered. Thank you!

He’s definitely not too old to get a bunny friend. I wouldn’t count on a friend altering his behavior problems, however.

How much time do you spend with your bunny? If you are often away, he most likely would benefit from a friend. However, there are many things to consider. Such as do you have time to do the bonding? Bonding can take weeks or months and there is always the chance they will not bond. Most bunnies will eventually bond but it can take a while and cause a lot of frustration at times. I had a pair of bunnies that I was never able to bond. What will happen if you can’t bond them? Do you have the space to keep two bunnies separate? During bonding, they will have to live separately.

Your best bet for an easy bond is to bring him to a rabbit rescue or shelter and let him pick his own potential buddy.
