I got a rabbit a week ish ago and Silo apparently had a Cuterebra and we took him to the vet. I think Silo is at LEAST 5minths old or so and the vet extracted the Warble and the Vet checked him to see wether he was Female or Male and he asked if I got him neutered and I said. I dont know. I’ve had him for 2 days. He said he couldn’t find any testicles so idk wether he is a male or female. So it’s been about a week and a half and i have gained at LEAST a bit of trust from Silo. He let’s me pet him and doesNT run away and eats from my hand. He is litter box trained and stuff but about 3 days ago. Silo hopped onto my futon and peed D: I picked him up and set him in his cage and im sure he must’ve not liked that. I let him out all day when I’m in my room. He has chewing toys,Timothy hay available 24/7, pellets, salt licks, water and an occasional ice cube. So every time he hops on my futon and I will peacefully will be eating or watching TV he will start digging at ANY part of me. He also does this to my blankets and pillow. I mean he is sweet on the ground but he gets on here and bites me REALLY HARD not enough to draw blood but it hurts a LOT. He also digs his nose into my hair and chews the roots of my hair. It iseems really frustrating. I will try to push him away but he bites my hand and fingers and digs at my arm. I THINK he may be taking owner ship of my futon? But its MY space I don’t want him to punish me from being in my personal area. I even do the EEEK sound but he doesn’t respond to it. I EVEN stamp my foot and he won’t care. I have to pat him off my futon for him to not do this. What is happening? I’ve done extensive research and haven’t found a direct answer

Do you think maybe he wants your attention? When I don’t give my bun David attention when HE wants it he’ll grab my phone and take it from my hands, he’ll also dig at the bed sheets when I’m on my laptop because he knows it will make me focus on him. I find that he doesn’t really give a flying poo about his toys either unless I’m playing reverse fetch with him (I bring him the toy and he throws it away)

Also if you’re eating something and he smells it he may just want a bite >.< even on things a little herbivore shouldn't want. David will nip at me when I have pizza or any type of food really.

Maybe try moving to the floor while you do whatever it is you do lol… as a way of bonding with him on his level since he doesn’t seem to shy of you and more seems like he’s begging for your attention.

I dont think so because when he is up here I will naturally pet his back or the back of his ears which is his favorite spot but he won’t stand still and he will push my hand away and bite me. Another example of this behavior is when Im at my desk working, he’ll hop on the futon and wander around it and get on the back rest and stuff. I’ll aproach him to pet him and he will let me 100% but I’ll be sitting on the floor NOT there with him. But if I sit with him he will start the biting and digging.

Have you tried to give him a comfy bed of his own? He may just feel like it’s comfy so he wants it to himself. Maybe try a box with a little fleece in it?

Also I know you have a salt lick but they aren’t really nessicary as rabbits make their own calcium which most salt licks provide and they also get their daily sodium needs from their veggies and pellets…

OH ALSO OFF TOPIC SOME MORE

Is the vet rabbit certified? He should be looking at the opening not for the presence of testicles.

Yeah good point on the vet possibly not knowing what he’s talking about. It still could definitely be that he’s not neutered, you’d be looking for a rounded protrusion for a male and a pointed one for a female, although I’m not versed enough to be able to tell you how you’d know if they were desexed. However, I also agree that he is claiming the futon as his own, and I ALSO agree that he’s probably demanding your attention. I also, also agree that giving him a comfy space of his own might reduce that. My rabbit pooped and peed on a precious childhood toy of my boyfriend’s roommate…which was terrifying and we had to make sure he never went near it again no matter how badly he wanted to. However, we got him a little tunnel that he sits in all the time, and I don’t think he even remembers it now.

I dont think he SPECIALIZES IN rabbits because he is the main vet in an ALL animals clinic. I looked at the opening on Silo and I honestly don’t know. Looks a little in between a slit and a hole :/ also I gave him a shoe box with fleeces in it and placed it under the bed which is his favorite sleeping place but he’s still bossy xD like right now he is on the bed all binky since I’m busy on my desk haha so he has the bed all to himself

                    Hi, Shy Silo

I had similar problems at first with my lionhead, he never bit me though nor did he get so rough! My wife and I solved it out by being very patient, if your rabbit is at least 5 months old he might be going through adolescence which can be hard on him and you, just try to be patient.
Also, male rabbits can “swallow” their testicles if their nervous, I remember when I first got Ender the store clerk picked him up and searched but we couldnt find anything. A couple of months later I checked myself while he was relaxed and there they where! A couple of tiny furry ones So it might be possible he still isn’t altered which could explain the behaviour.
