I was cuddling him and he does thing where after 5-10 mins he freaks out and lets me know she needs to pee/poo. Then hes ready to cuddle again. This time, i think he fell asleep and was a little late to warning me. I lifted him up to see if he went, and he did. It was maybe 5-6 pellets, but they were fused together, wet, and smelt really bad. I got up to open the cage and bring it closer to the bed. I picked her up and it was gone..? Didnt even smell anymore. I checked my bed, the blankets, the bunny. But the “log” was gone. She didnt poop like this before or since that night. Im thinking she already trained herself to not poo anywhere but her cage, and thus was trying really hard to keep it in when cuddling. But because of that, the poo just kind kf built up and he couldnt keep it in. I guess cuddling should be kept to a minimum. Has anyone else had this happen? Hes a month old orphan, btw.

Sounds like Cecals. Theyre stinky sticky poops that rabbits need to eat for their health

I’ll agree, bunny poop does not smell bad.  Bunny poop has an onion smell, a herbacious smell, it can have a onion like or sulhurious smell. Bunny poop does not have a fecal smell to it.

Rabbits have 2 types of poops hard round poops when eating hay etc. and soft grape-like cecotropes (also called soft cecal pellets) and what your talking about is cecotropes. Your rabbit is supposed to do this every day and eat its because it’s rich in vitamins, good bacteria, and all good things.

I am aware that they are supposed to eat soft poops, but they just never looked like this. And let me tell you, they did stink. really bad. (personally, bunny poops smell somewhat bad at first but the smell goes away fairly quickly.)

It just freaked me out because it looked so abnormal. Though I did not think of the soft cecals, i thought she was just keeping it all in, thus not giving a very good result.

Thank you for clearing it up!
