I’ve been meaning to post about this for a loooong time, but I never seemed to be able to get around to it.

I was sweeping up my bunny’s poops one day (he doesn’t really use his litter box, sigh) and I saw a poop that looked rather strange. It looked like a double poop, but less bumpy, more of a smooth oval cecotrope. Bunbun came along and ate half of it. HALF! I picked up the other half and peeled it apart (heh sorry kind of gross). The other half was a ball of fur!!!!!! I peeled apart some other poops, and I found around two or three more fluff ball poops, except they didn’t look like a cecotrope, it looked like a regular poop ball.

It was basically regular looking poops, but when you peeled them apart, a tightly rolled up ball of rabbit fur would show up instead of sawdust-like hay and pellet pieces. I’ve never seen them again, but I’m still wondering – what was it??????????? I couldn’t find anything else like it on the internet!

        Sorry it’s so long…

I’m really not sure about the hair… Maybe some sort of hairball like with a cat? But about the toilet situation, try taking the potty out and letting him/her decide a corner to go in and eventually put the potty there

I’d say it was hair that your bun’s tum had made an excellent job of covering with poop-material so the lot could pass smoothly through.
Buns always ingest some hair and sometimes you see “beads-on-a-string”-poop, especially during shedding. It’s important to brush your bun during shedding, because too much hair can cause real GI trouble. You’ll never be able to get all of it so the bun will still get some into him when he cleans himself. A diet with plenty of hay is the best thing for keeping the tummy in good working order, but I know you know that.
My only other suggestion would be that the hair wasn’t bunny hair but came from sth else he’d eaten. Like a piece of a woolen sweater f ex.
Weird thing is he ate half of the poop. Humans can never quite understand how a bun’s mind work

Alright, thanks for your help!  It was a while back and it hasn’t happened since, so I guess there isn’t any need to worry anymore…
