hey guys so as of u may know my bunny has not been eating enough, and we took her to the vet because her head was tilted to the side and was going back and forth, the vet said it may be an ear infection. But is it normal for bunnies that have ear infection lose their balance? because she keeps falling down and cant get up and she kept trying but she just laid there and i got really panicked and cried. (the vet said it is common for rabbits to have ear infection and they are gonna lose balance) but i just want reasurrance from other people it would help me so much. Also she is eating soe veggies.

Yes, tilts and balance issues are common with inner ear infection. The other thing that is a usual cause is E. cuniculi.

          Take a look here: http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-8/head-tilt.html

Here are some uselful tips about how to make life easier for a bun with head-tilt: head tilt in rabbits

I’m assuming the vet gave her meds. The appropriate meds would be antibiotics, an antiemetic (med against nausea), metacam (pain killer) and, if e cuniculi is suspected, Panacur (fenbendazole).

Her balance organs are affected by the infection/infestation, they are as you know located deep inside the ear. This is why she can’t keep her balance and she likely is feeling nauseated like if she were seasick, but since bunnies can’t vomit, she isn’t vomiting.

Hopefully the abx will help soon, meanwhile try to make her as comfy as you can.

The first time my new baby bunny had a head tilt, i freaked out and took it to the vet right away. S/he had a parasite in her nervous system or something like that. It was very bad and s/he did not recover

Update on Rosie: My dad has been syringe feeding her with the meds that the vet gave (my dad is feeding her because i have trouble just looking at her because it gets me devastated and i break into tears and wont be able to sleep thats how bad i feel for her bc i love her ) also my dad is picking her up and wrapping her in a blanket to feed her dont worry i told my dad how to carry properly. anyway i read the website @bam suggested and i saw it said to ‘not pick your bunny to much’ but we have to because we need to syringe feed her. Is this okay to do?

Anyways she is doing much better now she is not thrashing around anymore and she is eating very well and that makes me feel a bit better although she still has the head tilt and my dad saw that she has hair in her eye and removed it also he noticed some sticky white stuff forming around her eye but we will call the vet later to ask for some meds or something for her eyes.

But i just keep praying everyday for her to recover and feel much better again because i love her very much <3
