        Hey Everyone!

I have a a bunny that will be 9 months old soon. He is very social and likes attention. I was thinking that I should maybe get another bunny. I feel ready for another bunny. What do you think?

Is your rabbit neutered? That will have to be done before you can bring home another bunny. The new bunny will have to be spayed or neutered too, before you can attempt bonding. You have to wait a few weeks after spay and neuter surgery before you can start bonding. Bonding can sometimes be easy, but it sometimes takes weeks or months, and in a few cases, the rabbits never get along and have to be kept separately. You would have to make sure that you have room in your house to keep them in separate pens, if you were not able to bond them. You also have to know that you will have more expenses with two rabbits and be prepared for that. It is usually easier to bond a neutered male to a spayed female, but you can also bond rabbits of the same sex.

Here are 2 good articles on bonding:

Rabbits do usually love to groom and snuggle with other rabbits, plus just having the companionship of their own kind. But there are some who are fine being the lone rabbit in the house.

tobyluv is right, not all bunnies want another bunny with them, my boy is happy, one bunny to feed, one bunny to get all tasty treats, also only one bunny at the vets, if one gets ill so can the other, like if one gets worms so can the other, can you afford to pay 2 unexpected bunny vet bills if there is an out of the blue fight over a piece of hay? Can you find bunny another friend if the other one passes away? Do you have time to help with bonding? Do you have time to administer medicine and food if one is ill and still tend to the other bunnies needs? Do you have the time to keep an eye on both bunnies and don’t have to do overtime at work or study for school or college? Who will look after them if a friend or relative is ill and you have to visit them?
This is why take in ‘The one and only ones’
